At Side by Side, we believe counselling support should be accessible to everyone, regardless of financial circumstances. Our clients are never required to pay for counselling sessions.
As a voluntary service, donations and funding are essential in helping us continue supporting our community. We welcome voluntary donations from clients and supporters entirely at their own discretion, with no obligation or expectation.
Donations can be made in several ways, including:
Donation boxes available at our Oldham and Ashton sites
Online donations
Sponsorship and fundraising support
BACS bank transfer donations
donation buttons on this website
Every contribution, no matter the amount, directly helps us continue providing safe, compassionate and accessible counselling support to those who need it most.
Without donations, grants, fundraising and community support, services like ours face the very real risk of closure. The loss of voluntary counselling services can have a devastating impact on individuals, families and the wider community. Many people turn to counselling during some of the most difficult periods of their lives — including experiences of anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, isolation and crisis.
By donating to Side by Side Counselling, you are helping us continue providing a lifeline to people across our community. Your support helps us continue walking alongside people through some of life’s most difficult moments — and, in some cases, may help save lives.
You will find donation boxes at Oldham and Ashton venues. We really appreciate any donations and at your discreation. If you would like to donate through bank transfer, that is no problem, you can access it through our donate button.

In September 2026, Side by Side received a £1,000 donation from Mayor Eddie Moores and his wife Mayoress Kath. The generous support we received will help cover three months of our rent, allowing us to continue providing free, open-ended counselling to people in our community.
This support means so much to us. It enables us to keep our doors open to anyone who may be struggling with their mental health or finding it difficult to access mental health services.
